We have been getting a high demand for solutions in printing t-shirts. There is a previous post about how to use a Roland BN-20 to create amazing t-shirts but i would like to share an different method today. To see that article please hit this link – T-shirt Printing.
Most people who want to create t-shirts for either themselves or to sell encounter two major problems. The first is setup costs involved in buying equipment for a t-shirt printing business. The second is deciding on what route to take in printing methods. The most common way to print t-shirts is to screen print them. This is still the best way if you are looking to do big volumes and provide stores with product. Unless you have a really amazing brand it is very hard to break into this market. The other way is to Digitally print the t-shirts, this is mostly done with some form of a transfer system. The Roland Range of digital printers are capable of printing and cutting all in one device giving you the freedom to create transfers for any type/colour of t-shirt.
The other option is to use Laser Transfer paper, this paper is specially designed so that it can work with certain laser printers, the print is made on the A4 sheet of Forever transfer paper then placed on the garment and heat pressed leaving only the image behind. For white t-shirts the paper is very easy to use and requires no cutting or weeding so it is simply print, press and peel. The print is also durable for up to 3 years hence the name Forever paper. For dark garments the paper is printed then can be loaded into a Roland Vinyl cutter which can magically cut out the image leaving no unwanted borders around the image, this gives it very clean and professional look to the t-shirt. The Laser printer, vinyl cutter and heat press are very affordable and this business idea can be done from home, small office or even a stall at the mall. The costs involved in actually doing the prints are very low, for a white t-shirt it will cost around R10 for the print, for dark t-shirts it will cost around R22-R25 per print.
