Introducing the all new, extremely fast PRO4 XF-640 wide format inkjet printer.

Our engineers designed the new PRO4 XF-640 wide format printer with one thing in mind – speed. What’s significant about this blistering speed of up to 102 m²/hr., is that it’s achieved without sacrificing quality. The science under the hood of the XF-640 is unparalleled. State-of-the-art print head technology, ink delivered through 16 channels, high-speed media handling and drying, new high-density ECO-SOL MAX 2™ inks, Pantone® libraries within the powerful VersaWorks™ Server RIP, and the list goes on… Add Roland reliability and our 5 year extended warranty to the equation, and the result is a printer with unequaled performance, that ultimately makes you more money. It’s pure rocket science.

You Want speed We can give you SPEED!!

Staggered head configuration accelerates production. The PRO4 XF-640 features dual print heads that are based on the industry’s most advanced inkjet technology and positioned in a staggered formation to maximise your productivity. This unique design allows the PRO4 XF-640 to achieve a maximum speed of 102m²/h for banner printing, two and a half times the speed of the previous model. To capture every nuance in your design, each head fires precise droplets in seven different sizes. From signs and banners to vehicle graphics, POP and wraps of all kinds, the PRO4 XF-640 delivers exceptional results throughout the longest production runs.

Dual CMYK mirrored print heads

The XR-640 features two latest generation 8-channel piezo inkjet heads with 180 nozzles per channel. The inline formation allows for smoother gradations and richer density for photographic and high-resolution vector output. Configured in a mirrored pattern through seven colours, chromatic banding is virtually eliminated in bi-directional printing.

High Density ECO-SOL MAX 2™ Ink

Based on award winning Roland ink technology, ECO-SOL MAX 2™is our newest and most advanced eco-solvent formulation to date. ECO-SOL MAX 2™ ink adheres strongly to a variety of coated and uncoated media for rich, saturated colours and sharp images. Formulated to dry quickly, ECO-SOL MAX 2™ offers outstanding long-term outdoor durability, scratch and chemical resistance and a wide colour gamut – all without any nickel compounds.

New rock-solid rail and frame

The PRO4 XF-640 is built to last, with a powerful AC servo motor designed for volume production. Its reinforced rail and frame structure provides a firm foundation for smooth operation and outstanding image quality in high-speed mode. For added precision, the PRO4 XF-640 features 16 pinch rollers and redesigned grit rollers which hold media securely in place, preventing any signs of distortion.

Redesigned take-up system handles volume production

With the PRO4 XF-640, we have redesigned the take-up system for high speed, volume production. Two rigid shafts hold heavy rolls reliably in place for flawless media feeding. A new dancer roller assembly applies just the right level of tension to move media precisely through the printer. An all-new optional heater and blower unit ensures even temperature distribution across the entire width of the media, for prints that dry quickly at high speed.

EASE OF USE | Intelligent design and automated features for easy operation

A host of advanced features make set up and maintenance a breeze. Like the rest of the Roland printer line, the PRO4 XF-640 is easy to set up and operate. A redesigned front-loading ink cartridge unit facilitates ink replacement while minimising the functional printer footprint. A latched maintenance cover protects the print head assembly and opens automatically at the touch of a button for cleaning. With the PRO4 XF-640, media loading levers are positioned in both the front and back for maximum convenience. Special media brackets support even the heaviest media rolls as they are loaded into place, and adjustable media holders on both sides of the take-up system support the narrowest of rolls.

VersaWorks RIP Software

Developed exclusively for Roland inkjet printers, and printer/cutters, VersaWorks RIP software takes full advantage of the Pro 4’s capabilities. Based on the latest Adobe CPSI 3019 engine, VersaWorks includes advanced error diffusion and 16-bit rendering for exceptional production output and unmatched ease-of-use, and is fully compatible with Windows® 7, Vista and XP. Along with features such as variable data printing, embedded ICC support, ink level adjustment tools and advanced cropping, tiling and nesting options; the newest VersaWorks features include the following:
Predictive Ink Calculator and Alert: For flawless unattended printing, a predictive ink calculator estimates the amount of ink needed for each job. When there is not sufficient ink to complete a job, the RIP notifies the operator prior to printing.
Spot Color Replacement Tool: Allows an operator to specify Roland colors directly in VersaWorks without the need to spend a great deal of time re-opening the source file to make changes.
Built-in PANTONE® Spot Color Library: This new library helps streamline the conversion process from PANTONE® to CMYK colors and ensures accurate PANTONE® color matching.

Roland OnSupport™

Roland’s OnSupport online production monitor enables remote tracking of production so you can receive an e-mail notification when ink is running low or a job is finished.

High-Speed Network Connection

Equipped with a 100 Base-TX/10 Base-T interface, the Pro 4 connects seamlessly to office networks without additional software, achieving an increased data transmission rate of 100 MB/sec. This makes it easy to configure a highly-efficient printing environment.

Advanced Media Handling

The Pro 4 XF-640 is a true production large-format color printer. It features an upgraded media feed and take-up system that accommodates rolls of up to 40 kg for long, unattended printing. Adjustable print heads enable you to accommodate various media thicknesses.

Integrated Tri-Heater System

The Pro 4 XF-640’s integrated tri-heater system dries prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. The system features three components: a pre-heater that improves media receptiveness, a print heater to accelerate ink fastness and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance. All can be controlled from either the printer panel or Roland VersaWorks.

Optional DU-640 Dryer

Optional DU-640 DryerThe DU-640 Heater/Blower is offered as an option for the XF-640 and offers users several advantages, including the ability to print highly saturated images at full speed while using the take-up rollers. Image transfer and sticking caused by rolling up wet images are eliminated. For increased media feeding accuracy during print/cut operations, the DU-640 also enables users to take full advantage of all the XR-640 pinch rollers. The DU-640 is required for printing with white and metallic inks.
